At least three hundred and thirty (330) species in seventy-seven (77) families. Most of the trees have deciduous leaves and many flower from September to November.

11 rivers have their source inside the Park. Altitude 2,132m Climate Humid tropical type Relief Complex forest reliefs with steep and irregular ridges and slopes.

Relief

Located on a very high crystalline plateau, made up of magmatic granite to the east and Amboropotsy gneiss to the west.

History

The Ankarana is said to have been used as a refuge by the Antakarana people. A cave in Ankarana served as a tomb for the Antakarana Kings.
